Nexus 21

thx to ambi for the up!
part1.rar + part2.rar in ogg format
.
A few singles and an album by Altern 8's original alias.

(Still) Life Keeps Moving (12")(1989) mp3 mixes
The Rhythm Of Life (LP) (1989) mp3
Progressive Logic EP (EP)(1990) mp3
I Know We Can Make It (12")(1991) mp3
thanks to mpsprim!
.

The first Nexus 21 release was "(Still) Life Keeps Moving", a vocal techno tune today regarded as an early classic. They followed this up with their outstanding sole LP "The Rhythm Of Life", which was strongly influenced by Detroit techno, but also included acid house, electro and breakbeats elements. After the release of the album, Blue Chip folded, and Nexus 21 found a new home in the just founded Network Records. Meanwhile, R&S snapped up "Logical Progression" and "Techno City" from The Rhythm Of Life and released them on 12”. KMS released a set of Detroit remixes of "(Still) Life Keeps Moving" by Carl Craig / Mark Kinchen / Kevin Saunderson. The first Archer / Peat releases for Network were licensed versions of Another Night and the Detroit remixes. Then the pair tried out yet another alter ego and released the "Overload EP" as Altern 8. They came back to being Nexus 21 for the deep techno of "Self Hypnosis", their contribution to the Bio Rhythm compilation. A remix of Self Hypnosis then appeared on the "Progressive Logic EP", alongside "Together" (from Bio Rhythm 2) and two tunes from The Rhythm Of Life, one remixed. A second Nexus 21 album was ready in late 1991, but due to sample clearance problems, the LP never materialised. A small edition of white labels of "I Know We Can Make It"/"Sychologic PSP" was released, which showcased a bigger hardcore influence. After the success of "The Vertigo EP" and "Activ-8", credited to Altern 8, Mark Archer and Chris Peat concentrated on that project.

Fluke

Fluke - Six Wheels On My Wagon (1993)

A three-piece combo who managed to make inspired music during the 1990s while blazing a path through most of the popular electronic styles of the decade, Fluke was formed by occasional vocalist Jon Fugler, Mike Tournier and Mike Bryant after the three had spent several years living in the same combination house and recording studio. At first an eclectic, widely inspired house-pop act, the three later moved into trip-hop (and the British charts) during the mid-'90s before another leap into big-beat video-game soundtracks by the end of the decade.
.
Bitten by the acid-house bug in 1988, Fugler, Tournier and Bryant began recording with two singles informed by more-than-competent guitar work, soaring techno-funk and plenty of pop inspiration as well. "Thumper" and "Joni" (the latter sampling Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi") brought Fluke much attention in the growing electronic sphere, and they signed a one-off album deal with indie-rock kingpins Creation for their debut full-length, 1991's Techno Rose of Blighty. After completing another record deal with Virgin that same year, Fluke released a live album Out (in essence) and their sophomore masterpiece Six Wheels on My Wagon, an album of poppy, occasionally dreamy ambient-trance which included several previously released singles.

Frankie Bones

Frankie Bones - Bonesbreaks Volume 2 1988
Frankie Bones - Bonesbreaks Volume 3 1989
Frankie Bones - Bonesbreaks Volume 4 1990
Frankie Bones - Bonesbreaks Volume 5 1990

Frankie Bones was the original and first DJ coming out of the Brooklyn Underground during the mid 80's with the vision of what was yet to come on the Global front of Electronic Dance Music culture. His early mission came in the many releases of Fourth Floor and Nugroove Records. In a time when timing meant everything, the buzz of his early works caught the attention of the rapidly growing scenesters in the London Orbital M25 raves during the Summer Of Love in 1988.
.
Those early "Bonesbreaks" vinyls led Frankie to playing at a rave called "Energy" which had 25,000 people. With the scene already reaching critical mass, Bones had set off a fierce bidding war between XL Recordings and Deconstruction Records which led to two albums by Musto & Bones. The U.K. was very impressed by Frankie's unique Brooklyn style which was a raw-freestylish-bass-in-your-bass-bins-but-electro-bass style that was raw enough to keep the entire scene and industry at bay, waiting for the underground to bubble over. With gigs, remixing and production work pouring in by the truckload, Frankie ventured out into the early European scene playing key breaking parties in France, Holland, Italy, Denmark and Germany. Each country taking note of his style and wanting to license music.

Guru Josh - Infinity

Guru Josh - Infinity (1990)
password:tomi25

Guru Josh was a brief star of the early 1990s British acid house music scene, on the back of the 1989 single Infinity (1990s... Time For The Guru) (UK # 5, Ger #2, Australia #4). A track which, in radio edit form, has gone on to feature on a large number of compilations of 'old skool' house music. Guru Josh was an alias for Paul Walden, who began his career as an entertainer and keyboard player at Sands night club, Jersey, Performing under the name of Syndrone, Later to become.. Animal and His Crazy Organs, Following the release of Infinity, his debut single, he soon fell out of favour with the music press when his album, also titled Infinity, came out. It received mixed reviews. Notwithstanding , the album sold a staggering 900,000 units to such loyal fans.
.
Guru Josh also had several other singles: Freaky Dreamer, Holographic Dreams, Whose Law (Is It Anyway?) (all from 1990) and Hallelujah (in 1991), although none of them proved to be anywhere near as popular as his first single (and only true commercial success), Infinity, which has been reissued twice.

Bomb the Bass - Beat Dis

Classic cut & paste house track. Likely inspired by Marrs - Pump the Volume and almost as good. A Chemical Brothers favorite.
Two more singles:

Utah Saints

What Can You Do for Me (1991)

Something Good (1992)

Utah Saints (Album) (1992) thx to msprim!

Formed in Leeds, England in 1991, the dance-metal duo Utah Saints was led by Jez Willis, a onetime member of the industrial group Cassandra Complex who during the late '80s had turned to DJing in local clubs. While working the club circuit he met fellow DJ Tim Garbutt, whose passion for house music inspired Willis to begin creating house tracks of his own; Garbutt then played one of Willis' tapes to strong crowd response, and together they honed the song which eventually became Utah Saints' self-released debut single, 1991's "What Can You Do for Me." Of the one thousand copies originally pressed, one made it to the offices of ffrr Records, which immediately signed the duo to a contract; within three months of its wide release, "What Can You Do for Me" sold some 170,000 copies in the UK, landing in the Top Ten of the British pop charts. Following singles were "Something Good" (featuring a Kate Bush sample) "Believe In Me", and "I Want You".
.
Utah Saints' self-titled debut LP followed in 1992, proving successful in the US as well; after issuing the EP Something Good, a year later the group also opened for U2. Nevertheless, the duo's relationship with ffrr quickly soured, and despite signing a six-album deal they exited the label in 1996, leaving a completed LP on the shelf

Sunscreem

Love U More (1992)

O3 (album) (1993) or here
Sunscreem released a 12" promo of Love U More on the Sony Soho Square label in 1991, a song which went on to spend two weeks at #1 on the US dance chart in March 1993. They had club hits in the UK with the singles Walk On and Pressure (also on Sony Soho Square) before releasing their successful first album O3 on multiple labels in 1993. Other singles from O3 include Perfect Motion and a cover of the Marianne Faithfull record Broken English."Love U More" is considered to be one of the first techno songs to hit the US Top 40, climbing to #36 (to date it is their only Hot 100 entry). It has subsequently been covered by a number of other artists including Paul Elstak, Rollergirl and Steps.

Early Aphex Twin

Analogue Bubblebath (1991)
Classics (1999 Compilation)

Selected Ambient Works 85-92 (1993) Also here
More links here

Exploring the experimental possibilities inherent in acid and ambience, the two major influences on home-listening techno during the late '80s, Richard D. James' recordings as Aphex Twin brought him more critical praise than any other electronic artist during the 1990s. Though his first major single, "Didgeridoo," was a piece of acid thrash designed to tire dancers during his DJ sets, ambient stylists and critics later took him under their wing for Selected Ambient Works 85-92, a sublime touchstone in the field of ambient techno.
,
Inspired by acid house in the late '80s, James began DJing raves around Cornwall. His first release was the Analogue Bubblebath EP, recorded with Tom Middleton and released on the Mighty Force label in September 1991. Middleton left later that year to form Global Communication, after which James recorded a second volume in the Analogue Bubblebath series. This EP (the first to include "Digeridoo") got some airplay on the London pirate radio station Kiss FM, and prompted Belgium's R&S Records to sign him early the following year. A re-recording of "Digeridoo" made number 55 in the British charts just after its April 1992 release date, and James followed with the Xylem Tube EP in June. He also co-formed (with Grant Wilson-Claridge) his own Rephlex label around that time, releasing a series of singles as Caustic Window during 1992-1993. Available in cruelly limited editions, most of the recordings continued the cold acid precision of "Digeridoo" — though several expressed humor and fragility barely dreamed of in the hardcore/rave scene to that point.

The climate for "intelligent" techno had begun to warm in the early '90s, though. The Orb had proved the commercial viability of ambient house with their chart-topping "Blue Room" single, and R&S scrambled to find useful material from its own artists. In November 1992, James acquiesced with Selected Ambient Works 85-92, consisting mostly of home material recorded during the past few years. Simply stated, it was a masterpiece of ambient techno, the genre's second work of brilliance after the Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld.
